About Austin McCoy
Irene Ryan award nominee Austin McCoy (he/him) is a singer, actor, dancer, and musician born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee and raised in the rural town of Hartland, Michigan. Austin has been performing since he could walk and from a young age was already working with household names such as Drew Barrymore (Whip It), Kristen Wigg (Whip It), Elliot Page (Whip It), and Josh Lucas (Hide Away). At university, Austin worked under the mentorship of people such as Tony nominated Josh Young, Emily Padgett-Young, Rachel Stevens, and Teri Hansen. Austin is a dedicated and passionate performer whose energetic, kind-hearted personality makes him a joy to work with. Austin is typically cast in dramatic roles and specializes in pop/rock and contemporary vocal stylings. However, Austin is also capable of a variety of different genres ranging from jazz to country and blues to classical. He is eager to explore more opportunities to express his comedic side on stage. Austin plays guitar, multiple percussion instruments, and a little bit of piano, but he is also very quick to pick up instruments, having had to learn cello when he played Henrik in “A Little Night Music.”
